Learn How to Manage Your Money in a Different Way
Imagine being surrounded by nature, comfortably sitting on a beanbag, drinking your favorite beverage, and listening to real investors share personal stories about how they grow their wealth. Would you like to be there in real life?
For a long time, investing was viewed as overly complex and accessible only to professionals. We assumed that managing wealth was best left to experts, blindly trusting them while ignoring our own financial potential – even though it was our capital on the line.
Luckily, times have changed. Technological advances, new platforms, abundant information, and lower entry barriers have empowered individuals to take control of their financial futures. But this shift brings a new question: what is the best way to do it?
Answering that isn't simple. We all bring different experiences, financial capacities, risk tolerances, and goals to the table, but finding your unique approach is worth the effort. Importantly, you don’t have to be a professional to grow your wealth in practice.
Talking about money used to feel awkward or off-limits, but it’s no longer taboo. Today, it’s a natural topic at family gatherings, among friends, and at community events – such as the annual investors' festival in Lithuania organized by Verslo žinios, Lithuania’s leading business media group – where people exchange real-world insights. This is a different way to learn. You don't have to isolate yourself or wade through heavy textbooks full of industry jargon.
Learning In Festival Mode
Every June, people gather near Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, to deepen their market knowledge and discover new investment strategies. I know because I’ve been there – not just once, but several times.
On stage, speakers openly share raw, personal investing experiences, cover asset classes and investing basics, or participate in expert panels offering insights on market trends and outlooks. Attendees are actively invited to ask questions or discuss ideas together afterward in a safe, welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere. Those with more experience discover fresh investment ideas, while beginners gain the encouragement to take their very first steps.
At these events, you even witness unexpected moments – like company shares being bought live from the stage. Once, an attendee told me she bought stock in a company right after she heard about it in a presentation; a few months later, she sold the position for a solid profit.
I should add that she did her homework first and invested a small amount. While these moments are exciting, every investor has to decide what fits their own situation. Blindly copying someone else’s moves isn't a strategy, but seeing others in action can provide a helpful spark.
Feedback from participants consistently highlights the informal environment and the chance to network with like-minded people. All in all, it's engaging, practical, and highly motivating.
Managing personal finances and investing shouldn't feel overwhelming, nor is it something to shy away from. Caring for your finances should be a regular habit – like brushing your teeth twice a day. You don’t overthink it, you just do it. Because just like physical health, your financial health requires consistent care.
Anyone can be an investor. So, take the initiative and start small – whether you're relaxing on the couch at home or drawing inspiration from a live event.
